Unity Headquarters Office Tour – San Francisco

In March 2018, I had a chance to visit San Francisco to attend the Game Developers Conference which was made possible by Unity Technologies through a global contest that granted 50 students who developed outstanding projects in Unity Engine All Access passes to GDC.

During my stay in San Francisco, I visited the Unity Technologies Headquarters for a mentorship meeting with Jeff Dillon – Senior Support Engineer and Amy Tang – Senior Data Analyst. I presented my work-in-progress projects and they came up with suggestions in a direction where my games could make the most of Unity Services.

Their input on my projects were really constructive and they were incredibly enthusiastic and friendly, so was all the Unity employees I’ve met. After our meeting, Jeff and Amy – despite she had an injured foot,  gave me an office tour. The office environment was just brilliant and looked like a great place to work. You could tell everyone was happy to be there. Overall it was a really motivating experience to see the development team in person since I’ve been using the engine for so long.

Some locations in the office were marked with the names of distinguished games made with Unity Engine. We shared a laugh that maybe I get to see my own games marked along with them. I knew that I had to work even harder than before to make that a reality. The last destination of the tour was the rooftop which had a nice view of the streets of San Francisco.

When the tour was over, Amy walked me through the exit and after thanking her for everything, I left the building with nothing but joy, motivation and a better grasp of my dreams.
